Bermuda is located 32 degrees 45 minutes 65 degrees 0 minutes west. There are over 150 small islands that make up the archipelago Bermuda. These islands are made of coral. They can exist so far north only because of the effects of the warm waters of the Gulfstream. Bermuda was discovered the 16th century. The people of the islands earned their living from the sea. Parents and private years also use the island as a base. Steamships make tourism possible. After the First World War airlines increased this industry. In 1968 a new constitution leave the country internal self-government. Tourism continues to be the islands main industry. About 58,000 people live on the island. The climate is a tropical with mild winters in warm humid summers. June to November is the hurricane season the September being the most dangerous month.
